The S&P 500 Bond Index is designed to be a corporate-bond counterpart to the S&P 500, which is widely regarded as the best single gauge of large-cap U.S. equities. Bloomberg indices employ a composite of four Ratings agencies — DBRS, Fitch, Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s. Issue, or bond-level, ratings are used except for sovereigns. For sovereigns, the index uses the issuer’s long-term local or long-term foreign currency rating. US Corporate BBB Effective Yield is at 3.77%, compared to 3.63% the previous market day and 4.26% last year. This is lower than the long term average of 5.47%.
